CHARITY NAVIGATOR – MAKE YOUR DONATIONS COUNT

Charity Navigator is a very useful website found at www.charitynavigator.org. Since 2001, they have been providing objective and unbiased evaluations of thousands of America’s well-known and not-so-well-known charities. Aiming to help potential donors select a worthwhile charity to help, Charity Navigator provides tons of useful information on almost any charity worth looking at. A service like this is necessary because running a charity is not just about good intentions, but also about management and organizational skills. Even the best hearted charities may not be worth donating to, if they are not able to utilize donations efficiently.

The American Red Cross, for instance, is one of the charities that Charity Navigator has awarded with its highest four star ranking. It numbers among those charities that handle donations very efficiently, and have very active programs. The Red Cross is a disaster relief organization, helping people to help others in times of need. The American Red Cross is also well known for conducting blood drives, and has become the largest supplier of blood in the United States.

The Red Cross and other four star charities like it are thus the most worthy recipients of donations. This is because donors can be sure that their money is going to be used wisely, and is going to do a lot of good for many people.

Sharp Shopping Tips for Live Auction Newbies

Some people have turned live auctions into a hobby.  That means they probably love a great bargain or scoring those “diamond in the rough” kinds of deals.  The same people might also be the ones who enjoy reselling those bargains they find at a live auction for a profit.  This type of shopping can be addicting if you aren’t careful! Of course, if you are a live auction newbie, chances are that you have been somewhat hesitant about stepping into that sometimes-chaotic foray.

Live auctions are nothing to be afraid of! Just think of it as one big bargain party where everything is at just the right price. You will typically find a live auction in a number of venues.  For instance, if someone died, their heirs might hold an estate sale to sell off the deceased’s belongings.  Or, if a person died without heirs, there might be a public auction held to cover unpaid expenses.  Other instances where you might find live auctions include police auctions, charity fundraising events, and police or government auctions.

Save Money when you Purchase Refurbished Products

Most of use enjoy being able to buy the items we need as well as enjoy some luxury items now and then. The cost of many items though makes it difficult to budget for them if you don’t want to simply run out and charge up your credit cards every time you want or need something.

One of the best ways to get what you want or need is to take a close look at refurbished items, also referred to as reconditioned, that are for sale. These items offer you the same name brand and the same quality but they are sold for less. This is because the item has been returned because it did not work properly. Yet it has been looked at and repaired so it is just as good a purchasing a new one. Many refurbished products come with a warranty as well but several of them are purchased in an “as is” condition. Make sure you ask about this before you make the purchase.
