When shopping for big-ticket items, it pays to do your homework by researching what you want before going out there and buying on a whim. Here are some suggestions on how to shop for these items without losing lots of money and time.
Research the various brands that you are interested in. Shop around and don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to. Remember that you are the consumer and you have the money! Compare the various features in the items that you like. Ask to use the items if you can. For example, in a car, don’t be afraid to drive the car around and get a feel for how it drives. After you’ve tested models that you like, go and research about these in the library. Check out review magazines and go on the Internet to read about the various models. Take your time thinking about the pros and cons of each of the items that you like. Talk with friends and family and solicit their advice for what they think are good models and why. Don’t forget to decide how much you are willing to spend on the big-ticket item. Sure it’s going to cost more than a few dollars, but for every big-ticket item, you can still decide whether to spend $200 or $2000 on a refrigerator or mattress.

If you are getting married and are looking for something a little different to celebrate the “blooming” of your love, you can’t go past Blooming teas – these are divine little balls that you steep in hot water – and int he process they “bloom” for you under water, becoming a really cute minature bouquet.
Until the end of June there is a 20% sale on all of the favors available! I have pictured the “trinket” favor, available in pink or blue and comes with an individual gift bag. The little box contains 1 bloom of your choice. Heart shaped boxes are available in red and white, and little cube boxes come complete with little handles. For something very different there are also little “take out” favor boxes in the shape of and asian take away food box.
The prices are great, coming in at $4 each if you order more than 25.Â
Some of my favorite blooms are the “good fortune” bloom and the “heavenly” bloom – both are made of Silver Needle White Tea leaves, which are of the finest quality being harvested during the Spring before the buds open to preserve tenderness.
SO for any special occasion, you really can’t go past these cute and unusual wedding favors!

With so many types of digital cameras on the market, choosing the right one for you can be challenging. If you take a lot of pictures of family you can choose a less expensive digital camera while if you plan on taking more professional looking pictures a more expensive camera may be needed.Â
Price is the number one consideration people use when selecting a digital camera. You can find many good digital cameras at around $100 while there are many digital cameras that cost well over $1,000. Knowing what you can afford can help you narrow down your choices. If you only plan to use your camera occasionally you will probably want to purchase a less expensive digital camera model. On the other hand, if you will be using the camera professionally or you are an amateur photographer who will be using the camera frequently, you may want to spend more money on the camera you will buy.Â

Looking for great bargains on your favorite clothing and summer seasonal items? Check out the end of summer close-outs at your local retail stores and malls. Great deals can be found on many items from seasonal merchandise in the gardening center to incredible prices on clothing. All you need to do is spend a little time checking out the sale racks and be willing to dig through an occasional shopping cart filled with discontinued summer items.
One favorite place for parents to shop is their local retail super store at the end of the summer. The best time to hit the sales is mid-August when stores are starting to stock their fall clothing lines. You can purchase clothing items that are one or two sizes larger than the ones your children are wearing now. The prices on these clearance-clothing items are usually 40-50 percent less than what you would normally pay. Good items to buy are jeans, shorts and t-shirts, summer jackets and swimsuits. Avoid trendy items that may not be in style next year or shoes for children since it is hard to predict how fast their feet will grow.

Have you ever felt the pull of the sea? We went and saw the latest pirates of the Carribean movie last week, and it has made me want to fill my house with Model Ships, and other nautical wear!Â
Now seriously, if you want to get your hands on some awesome Nautical Decor, check out go nautical gifts. This online store is packed with a huge dare I say, pirates trove of all things to do with the sea. Some items like the mermaid tables go all out for that sea side look, whereas other, such as the lighthouse tables are much more subtle.
Great Nautical Gifts for your sea faring friends and relations include all manner of ships in bottles (as you might expect) as well as a huge range of model ships that have been meticulously detailed and finely finished with real metal anchors and real brass canons! If course their pirate ship caught my immediate fancy, and at the huge discount price they are currently being offered at, these are quite the steal for the level of intricacy and detail you are buying. (I want the one with the black sails!Â
)
The site itself is well designed and easy to navigate. (pun intentded!) and their huge range of inventory make it a dream to use and peruse. So if you are after a gift for that hard to buy for person, you just might find it here.

The budget conscious shopper is always looking for bargains and there is no better place to bargain hunt than a garage sale. Garage sales are a piece of Americana and they can be found in any city on almost any day during the fair weather months. Before you head out to a garage sale, here are five helpful shopping hints to get you off to a great start.
First, plan your route for your shopping spree. Many times there will be community or neighborhood garage sale days which is easier than running around neighborhood to neighborhood. This is one of the best ways to cover a lot of ground in the shortest amount of time. Go early for the best deals in the neighborhood and bring a wagon or several bags to help you haul your purchases away. Don’t show up to a sale earlier than the listed starting time; often you’ll be in the way of the person trying to set up their sale and aggravate them.Â

These days, you cannot afford to get sick! Everything from a simple doctor’s visit to a prescription medication can cost so darn much. That is why many people get insurance – to protect them and cushion some of that exorbitant cost factor. When you shop around for health insurance, you must consider several factors: the cost, benefits you get with a health insurance plan and what plan would best suit your family’s needs. There are a number of plans available to choose from and you can many times tailor it to fit within your budget and lifestyle.
Many employers still offer some type of health plan so you should check with your human resource person to check on your options. Sometimes, you have a choice from among several plans like an HMO, PPO, EPO and more. Or if your employer does not offer health insurance or you are self-employed, you will have to make sense of all the plans on your own.Â

There are three main shopping periods a year when you can expect some marathon shopping days – the day after Thanksgiving, the day after Christmas and tax-free shopping weekend. For many people, they take their shopping seriously and know how to spot a bargain. They are also the ones who keep lists of people along with who gets what present. They are … organized! So how do you become a veteran marathon shopper without just totally passing out from the sheer exhaustion of walking all day carrying mountains of shopping bags?
Start training during early summer and do exercises and weights that will work on your endurance – seriously! Shopping can be a full body experience, so you must exercise and train the whole body.  In addition, working with weights to build and maintain upper body strength will help you carry those shopping bags for miles. Also try and join a walking club, either outdoors or in a local mall. Remember – start this training program at least two months, if not more, before your next marathon shopping opportunity.
