More toy tips..
posted in Shopping |2. Check out the websites of your local retail brick and mortar toy stores. You will likely find that they will offer special deals and online coupons for their Internet customers. In addition, many of them have special search engines on their own website so that you can narrow down your toy search. For instance, instead of browsing through one hundred pages of toys to find a gift for a young boy who likes puzzles, you can enter those parameters in their search engine.Â
3. Check for discounts on shipping. Sometimes, an online store will offer free shipping for orders over one hundred dollars or give discounts on shipping if you order more than one item. If you have plenty of time before you need your gift, you could probably have it sent to you snail mail (United States Postal Service) at no extra charge. You will have to check with the online toy stores customer service department for the details.
4. Save money on sales tax. Try and choose an online toy store whose headquarters is not in the same state as you. This will likely save you some money on sales tax. These stores can only charge sales tax if you are located in the same state.
5. Take advantage of virtual credit card numbers. While a large percentage of online toys store websites are safe to shop on, you can take extra precautions by securing a virtual credit card number through your regular credit card company for when you make an online purchase. This will all but eliminate anyone from hacking into your credit card account. Plus, some companies will offer you extra reward points for using that service.
6. Check out the online auction sites. You can always find great toy bargains on an auction site. Before you pay for anything you bid on and won, be sure to check out the ratings and credentials of the seller and see if they got any negative feedback from others.
